Educational Background and Licensing Requirements
In addition to CE courses, students should take some ME courses in metallurgy, corrosion, and welding (if not available in CE), and coursework to understand the composition, performance and uses of composites (may be taught in Chem E or ME). Advanced degrees are recommended for those who want to be engaged in challenging problems earlier in their career. Some Universities, such as UT, offer specialized programs in construction materials for students pursuing MS or Ph.D. degrees.
