A diverse faculty includes Nobel Prize winners in chemistry and physics and Pulitzer Prize winners in fiction and history. Additionally, many faculty members have been selected to be active in prestigious scholarly organizations in recognition of contributions to their respective fields.  These include 19 National Academy of Science members, 39 National Academy of Engineering members, 20 American Academy of Arts and Sciences members, and 21 members of the American Law Institute.

The UT Austin campus has outstanding educational and research facilities.  Our library collections are the sixth largest academic library in the United States.  Nineteen on-campus libraries include the Richard W. McKinney Engineering Library (the nation's eighth largest), one of the world's most important collections of Latin-American literature and the finest legal research facility in the Southwest.  In addition, the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center holds one of the world's leading depositories of modern English, French and Italian literature.  Anthony Hobson's Great Libraries, a listing which included only five U. S. libraries, ranked UT-Austin's library system among the world's 32 great libraries.
