To open the door to the CAEE office, in person or electronically, is to open the door to faculty and staff who can help you explore the possibilities of a graduate education and rewarding career in civil, architectural, and environmental engineering.

Graduate students in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering can pursue the Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) degree in Civil, Architectural, or Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, not to mention the Dual Degree Program in Engineering & Public Affairs. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is available in Civil Engineering. Upon application for admission to the university, graduate students must indicate an area of specialization, generally corresponding to the department's six Technical Areas. (At the M.S.E. and Ph.D. levels, The University of Texas at Austin also offers portfolio programs for interdisciplinary specializations.)

Within CAEE, there are four options available for the M.S. degree, depending on the area of specialization. Requirements for each, as well as the Ph.D. general guidelines, are provided below. Be sure to also read the Miscellaneous Rules for All Graduate Students (pdf). As you consider degree options and requirements, you may be interested in looking at course descriptions and offerings, and so relevant links for those are also provided below.
