IGERT affiliates receive prestigious awards

Our IGERT students have had extensive networking and professional development opportunities by introducing them to recognized experts in their field.  These experts span academia, government regulatory agencies, national labs, and industry.  During the past year our students have had group meetings with the following IGERT visitors (in alphabetical order): James Axley (Prof – Yale), David Banks (CPP, Inc.), Cynthia Howard-Reed (NIST), Peggy Jenkins (California Air Resources Board), Mike McGinley (St. Croix Sensory, Inc.), Shelly Miller (Assoc. Prof. - U. of Colorado), Glenn Morrison (Assoc. Prof - Missouri University of Science and Technology – formerly University of Missouri-Rolla), Bill Nazaroff (Prof. - UC Berkeley), Linda Sheldon (USEPA/NERL), John Spengler (Prof – Harvard), Jelena Srebric (Penn State University), Mike Strommen (3M Corp), Jan Sundell (Technical University of Denmark), and Charles Weschler (Prof – Rutgers U).  Discussions have ranged from fundamental research issues (including feedback to students), career options, raising a family in academia, and more.  Previous visitors to our program have included Yan Chen (Purdue University, Ashok Gadgil (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory), Jensen Zhang (Syracuse University).
