IGERT co-PI Jeffrey Siegel and graduate students Michael Waring and Ping Zhao presented a session at Women in Engineering Program WE@UT event. WE@UT, a preamble to the University Honors Colloquium, is a 2-day event designed to interest high-school women in careers in science and engineering. The session entitled "Candles, Air Fresheners, and Air Cleaners: How Indoor Air Quality Affects You" involved hands on measurement of particle emissions from candles and incense, air cleaner efficiency, and particle-forming chemical reactions between ozone and air freshener emissions. Participant comments included: "It opened my eyes. Professor was engaging and interesting." and "It was awesome!"
