Keeping Your Computer Secure and Up To Date

Without security software and the latest updates, your computer will very likely become infected with a virus.

Security Software:

Security software can be downloaded from Bevoware. Bevoware features Symantec Antivirus which helps prevent viruses from infecting your computer. Please download and install Symantec Antivirus.

Updates:

Automatic Updates ensures that the latest updates are installed on your computer. Updates protect your computer from operating system vulnerabilities/viruses and keep it running smoothly.

To use Automatic Updates, follow these instructions.

Turn On Automatic Updates

Windows XP

1. Right click on My Computer, and select Properties.
2. Select the Automatic Updates tab.
3. Check Keep My Computer Up To Date.
4. Select Download The Updates Automatically And Notify Me When They are Ready To Be Installed.
5. Click Apply and then OK.

Windows 2000

1. Click the Start Menu, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
2. Open the Automatic Updates control panel.
3. Check Keep My Computer Up To Date.
4. Select Download The Updates Automatically And Notify Me When They are Ready To Be Installed.
5. Click Apply and then OK.

Install the Updates

When you see the Automatic Updates pop up window on the bottom right corner of your desktop, click on it to install the updates.

Warning: Be careful to avoid emails that claim to install updates! Such emails are hoaxes which can install viruses on your computer. Don’t hesitate to check with the CE Technology Support staff if you have any questions/concerns.

Click Install in the Ready to Install window. If you would like the updates installed later, then click Remind Me Later. It is best to install the updates within the same day.

You must restart your computer for the updates to take effect. Click Yes to restart your computer.
