Things have gotten into full swing preparing for the 2011 Texas-Mexico Regional Concrete Canoe Competition in College Station this coming April.  Mix design and paddle practices getting under way, and we've recently chosen our theme.

At the moment, we're getting out onto Lady Bird Lake to paddle every other weekend, and we're meeting and having socials roughly every other week!

Now's a wonderful time to get involved, if you have any questions or want to learn more, send an email to concretecanoe2011@gmail.com to get started.

The National Concrete Canoe Competition is the older of the two primary civil engineering intercollegiate competitions. Students design a canoe out of concrete that, by its mix design being less dense than water, actually floats, and they race it against other universities.

The competition not only is based upon race performance and canoe design, but also construction techniques and oral technical presentations.

Competitions are held regionally in the Spring, with the top team from each region invited to the national competition.

If you are a student interested in becoming a concrete canoe team member and would like to get involved, contact the Concrete Canoe Captains.
