Biography
I am originally from Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. I attended undergraduate at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan which is located in the Keweenaw of the Upper Peninsula where I received my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. After graduation, I moved to Austin, Texas where I finished my Master's degree in the Environmental Water Resources Engineering program at the University of Texas at Austin. My interests in environmental engineering lie in the area of water quality and treatment. When I am not busy I enjoy mountain biking, playing tennis, hiking, and especially skiing. I am now working in Detroit, Michigan.
Research
My research involved developing and standardizing a procedure using solid phase microextraction to measure pore-water concentration in order to quantify bioavailability and contaminant migration. Pore water concentrations drive the contaminant fluxes below the biologically active layer and within sediment caps the measurement of these concentrations can be used to better evaluate contaminant migration and release.
