Biography

I grew up in Lawrence, Kansas. I graduated from Bishop Seabury Academy where I participated in basketball, soccer, and cross-country. I then attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I received a BS in Civil Engineering. At Illinois, I was active in Engineers Without Borders where I was on the executive board and worked on a water supply project in Nigeria. I moved to Austin in August of 2010. Some of my hobbies include camping, record collecting, and, best of all, board games.

Research

My research is centered on mercury and methylmercury in sediments. This work includes passive sampling of porewater using DGT (diffuse gradient in gel thin-film). It also includes work on active capping to reduce methylmercury flux from capped sediment.
