20 ft span steel bridge competition
Each year, members of the student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) complete a 20 ft-span steel bridge for a regional and national competition.

Earning your undergraduate or graduate engineering degree from CAEE at UT-Austin means you will be part of a top-ranked department in one of the largest and most-prestigious public universities in the United States. Whether you intend to work in the public or private sectors, within the United States or abroad, or as an entrepreneur in a small consulting firm or a large company, CAEE is committed to helping you succeed in meeting your goals.

We provide degree programs for undergraduate and graduate students that combine excellence in teaching and research with a strong focus on engineering applications and design. Award-winning faculty and students work together to facilitate the understanding and use of new ideas, technologies, and practices to improve the world in which we all live.

A degree from Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) offers a broad spectrum of employment opportunities, in both the public and the private sectors, within the United States and abroad. These opportunities exist in both technical and management positions, within organizations of varying sizes, which deal with a dizzying array of issues associated with both engineered and natural systems. Many of the most-critical problems facing our country and the globe are related to deteriorating infrastructure, the need for new kinds of infrastructure, and the need to build sustainable structures and systems. So, civil, architectural, and environmental engineers have the opportunity to make more of a difference in the world than ever before.

We invite you to join over 1,200 students who make CAEE their home department each academic year. In the Fall of 2011, 785 undergraduates enrolled with us, 559 in civil engineering and 226 in architectural engineering. This same semester 430 graduate students enrolled in CAEE, with 246 pursuing M.S. degrees and 194 pursuing Ph.D. degrees. (You can meet some of our students through our Student Profiles.) You obviously will not be alone in pursuing your degree, and you will work with nationally and internationally recognized faculty and excellent administrative and technical support staff.
