The Cockrell School of Engineering awarded Dr. Oguzhan Bayrak the Joe J. King Professional Engineering Achievement Award for the 2020 – 2021 academic year. This award was establish in 1977 to recognize a faculty member who has made significant contributions in furthering the profession of engineering.

I owe my deepest gratitude and most sincere thanks to all of my students, staff and colleagues who made all of my professional accomplishments possible. Without their support, I would not be where I am today.”

Dr. Bayrak is a professor in the Structural Engineering group within the CAEE Department and he holds the Phil M. Ferguson Professorship in Civil Engineering endowment. His technical interests include behavior, analysis, and design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures, bridge engineering, evaluation of structures in distress, structural repair, fiber reinforced polymers and earthquake engineering.
