The International and Low Impact Development Conference, taking place in Houston, Texas January 19 - 21, 2015 is currently accepting paper submissions and program participants. The program will feature presentations and research on low impact development strategies, as well as highlighting the adoption of LID by communities throughout the United States and internationally.

The conference also has a special focus on LID technology in the American southwest and will include a mini-symposium on the adoption of LID in arid regions.

Conference sponsors include the Water Environment Federation, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Citizen’s Environmental Coalition, and the city of Houston, among others.

The University of Texas at Austin has a special presence at the conference. The Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering is a cooperating organization and research faculty member Michael Barrett is Technical Program Chair of the conference.

Research Professor Michael Barrett says that the conference will be “A great opportunity to learn how to minimize the impacts of land development from experts around the world.”
