Rotating Fluid Simulation

Purpose:
This applet shows the freesurface shape due to the rotation of a fluid in a cylinder. Rotation
occurs about a vertical axis through the center of the cylinder. Equations for this applet
come from the behavior of a fluid under radial acceleration.
Using the Applet:
Note: The Original Water Height refers to the height of the water without rotation.
 Drag the yellow handles to change the Angular Velocity and the Original Water Height.
 Enter values for Angular Velocity and Original Water Height for more accurate control
over the parameters. The range for the Original Water Height is 520 cm.
