What are River Reach Files (RF1)?

Reach File 1 (RF1) is a representation of streams in the conterminous United States at a scale of approximately 1:500,000. The original file was prepared by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). This is an accurate translation of the RF1 version on the USEPA mainframe computer as of October 17, 1994 into an Arc/INFO coverage.
