CE 397 GIS in Water Resources
Objective
The objective of this project is to analyze rainfall runoff data generated by the Hydrologic Modeling System (HMS) from GIS data prepared using the HEC-PrePro, comparing it with the data obtained from the field. The final goal is the calibration of the modeling system. The study will be done with data corresponding to the Guadalupe Basin.
Data needed
Data required for the study includes the Digital Elevation Model for the river basin (500 m grid cell will be used), precipitation grid, stream network for the basin and watershed boundaries. Field data of the basin will also be necessary to compare the results.
Analysis
The first step will be the development of the data tables required to run the HMS system. Those tables will be prepared with the HEC-PrePro Extension of the ArcView GIS System. Rainfall runoff data will be generated by the HMS for the Guadalupe River Basin. Those data will be compared with the field data in order to determine the correct parameters to be introduced into the HMS system and to calibrate the hydrologic model.
