
Dr. Edward Kavazanjian Jr. joined the faculty at Arizona State University in 2004 as an Associate Professor after 20 years in engineering practice. He has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from MIT and a PhD from the University of California at Berkeley. He is widely recognized for his expertise in solid waste landfill engineering and geotechnical earthquake engineering. He is co-author of the EPA guidance document on RCRA Subtitle D (258) Seismic Design Guidance for Municipal Solid Waste Landfill Facilities and the FHWA guidance document on Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering for Highways. He currently serves as President of the ASCE Geo-Institute. In 2009, Dr. Kavazanjian was awarded the Ralph B. Peck award by the American Society of Civil Engineers for his contributions to the profession through published case histories on landfill engineering.
His presentation is entitled "Pre-Design Geotechnical Evaluation of the OII Superfund Site Landfill."
