Ying Xu

Architectural Engineering Assistant Professor Ying Xu was selected to receive the 2011 Yaglou Award. The award, presented by the Academy of Indoor Air Sciences, recognizes outstanding work of young promising researchers within the indoor air sciences field and encourages them to continue their career in this field. Xu will receive the award at Indoor Air 2011 in June.

Her research focuses on characterizing emissions of semi-volatile organic compounds (e.g. plasticizers, flame retardants and biocides) from indoor materials and products and investigating the fate, transport and human exposures associated with the release of emerging contaminants in indoor environments.

In addition, Xu has developed interests in sustainable building energy systems and green building materials, such as environmentally benign building materials design and green building materials assessment; intelligent HVAC systems; building energy simulation; impacts of nano-technological materials; and environmental risk assessment.
