The Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for our students, faculty and staff. We believe that diversity of people leads to diversity of thought, eliciting creative solutions and innovative approaches to all aspects of the engineering practice. Including those from all backgrounds also prepares our students for the global community where they will live and work. We believe that it is equally important to support our diverse populations and reinforce that they belong in Texas Engineering.
Message from the Department Chair
The Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Department pledges to push for racial equality within the university and our profession. We commit to listening and actively working towards an environment that is not only inclusive and diverse, but also anti-racist. It is our responsibility to create safe spaces for all members of our community. We recognize that a consistent effort and a continuing, open dialogue will be needed to make lasting changes. Within our department, we have formed an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Advocacy (IDEA) Task Force to improve the representation and treatment of minorities in our student body and in our profession. I invite you to join us in this effort and I welcome your feedback as we get started.
