The CAEE department offers a desktop and application delivery service that runs on Microsoft Azure. All current CAEE undergraduate and graduate students have access to the Azure Virtual Desktop, which allows students and faculty 24/7 access to some Windows based software applications through Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop environment. By installing a client on your machine, you will be able to access software using a Windows or MacOS desktop client.

Accessing Azure Virtual Desktop

If you are using this service for the first time you must download a client onto your machine. Installation instructions and the client downloads are available at:

Windows                  MacOS

  • Use your official UT email address to “Sign in” when prompted for your Microsoft account.
  • Use your UT EID or official UT email address on the UT Tower Sign-in page. Two-factor authentication will be required.
  • Check “Allow my organization to manage my device” if prompted.
  • Click the “Connect” icon under CAEE Academic Desktops

Azure Virtual Desktops can be accessed on-campus or off-campus using any computer with the Windows App client but will require a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection from off-campus.  Search for "VPN" at https://tech.utexas.edu for detailed instructions.
