Dr. Desmond F. Lawler has been selected as the recipient of the Dr. John L. Leal Award by the American Water Works Association.
The award recognizes those whose careers in the water industry have improved water quality and protected public health. Recipients exemplify John Leal’s courageous leadership in advancing society.
The American Water Works Association is an international, scientific and educational organization devoted to providing total water solutions and ensuring the effective management of water resources.
Dr. Desmond Lawler has dedicated 39 years of service to the University of Texas, where his research and teachings in water treatment have provided the foundation for protecting our public health.
His research focuses on particle removal through modern membrane processes and conventional processes such as flocculation, settling, and granular media filtration.
The award will be presented to Dr. Lawler during the Opening General Session on Monday, June 10th, 2019, at the American Water Works Association Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE) in Denver, Colorado.
