The University of Texas at Austin’s Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering is once again ranked in the top five in the latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report, strengthening the department's position as one of the nation’s best undergraduate engineering programs:

No. 5 Civil Engineering

No. 4 Environmental Engineering

In addition, the Cockrell School of Engineering’s undergraduate engineering program has been named No. 11, and several of UT Austin’s engineering programs ranked in the nation’s top 10 for their respective programs, according to the rankings released on September 14.

The University of Texas at Austin also rose six spots to No. 42 in this year’s ranking of national universities. Among public universities, UT now ranks No. 13 and remains the top-ranked public university in Texas and the region.

“These rankings are an acknowledgment of the hard work and brilliance of so many members of Longhorn Nation — students, faculty and staff — and they are also a product of the profound investments the university has made in recent years in academic excellence,” said UT Austin interim President Jay Hartzell. “I’m proud to see the progress we’ve made, but I also know that this extraordinary university has the potential to climb even higher and accomplish even more — as far as I’m concerned, we’re just getting started.”

The department's graduate programs in civil engineering and environmental engineeringis were both ranked No. 5 in the U.S. News and Report's 2021 graduate program rankings earlier this year.
