Professor Lymon C. Reese had a 33-year career at UT Austin, conducting pioneering work in performing field studies with instrumented piles and drilled shafts. Elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1975, he developed analytical methods now widely used in the design of deep foundations.
On December 10, the Cockrell School of Engineering hosted a celebratory event to commemorate the naming of the Sam and Hema Kumar Construction Engineering and Project Management Program (CEPM) in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering. The Kumar CEPM program is named in honor of alumnus Sam Kumar and his wife, Hema, for their transformative gift to the program.

The Cockrell School of Engineering awarded Dr. Oguzhan Bayrak the Joe J. King Professional Engineering Achievement Award for the 2020 – 2021 academic year. This award was establish in 1977 to recognize a faculty member who has made significant contributions in furthering the profession of engineering.
