Get Involved with UT ASCE!

As a member of our chapter, there are plenty of opportunities outside of the classroom to interact with other students and help others.

Outreach

Over the years, our teams of ASCE volunteers have been shaping the Central Texas community through it's people and environment. We offer several opportunities each semester that allow our members to participate in creating a better built environment and encouraging younger members of the community to find interest and passion in STEM fields. There's an activity for everyone - get involved and start changing the world!

UT Span

One of the most important programs that Outreach coordinates is UT Span. UT ASCE holds a special place for those students who are as curious as we are. What better way to excite young, future engineers than by sharing our passion for building! Longhorn engineers take regular visits to a local school to teach students about the basics of structures, engineering principles, and then guide them to build their very own bridge - which they later get to test in ECJ basement! This is a great way to connect with youth in Austin and promote STEM subjects to students who may otherwise not pursue them.

Social

The UT ASCE student chapter is comprised of dedicated engineering students who know how to work hard and play hard. Ranging from tailgates with Corporate Partners, Saturday afternoons paddle boarding and kayaking the river, or movie premieres, there is an event for every student to allow them a break from the books and enjoy the events around the greater Austin area!

Sports

Civil Engineers aren't just Mathletes... we're out to prove we can hold our own as athletes. ASCE participates in two intramural sports per semester, and enters into smaller athletic organizations and competitions within the Austin community. If you have suggestion for a new sport venture, want to toss a frisbee with some of your fellow classmates, or want to cheer on our team, come on out and join the ASCE IM team! All are encouraged to participate!
