Placing 13th overall, we completed the construction and testing of the bridge during the competition for the first time since before Covid!
Due to our incredible design team, the bridge successfully carried 1,500 lbs before exceeding deflection limits.
Our designers play a critical role in the early stages of the competition. During the fall, team members collaborate to brainstorm bridge concepts and finalize the overall geometry, including member specifications and connection requirements.
Our fitting team ensures every piece of the bridge is precisely measured, cut, and prepared using tools like angle cutters, bandsaws, and drill presses. Accuracy is essential before moving on to welding and to help turn bridge plans into reality!
Our welding team builds the entire bridge from the ground up using MIG welding-assembling everything from footings to trusses to lateral connections. Strong, clean welds are critical to the structural integrity of the bridge. No experience is necessary-members are welcome to learn the machinery and new skills!
